Billing
The Billing page (Billing history) shows estimated energy costs cycle by cycle, for electricity, water, gas and steam. Use it to follow the trend over the year and find ways to cut the bill. Open it from Energy → Billing, or click Billing history → on the dashboard.
How PULSE works out the bill
Section titled “How PULSE works out the bill”PULSE multiplies the energy your meters measured by the rates a site admin entered in site energy settings.
| Part | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Energy charge, time-of-use | When both the Peak and Off-peak rates are set: on-peak kWh × Peak rate + off-peak kWh × Off-peak rate |
| Energy charge, flat rate | When the Peak/Off-peak rates are not set: total kWh × Flat rate |
| Demand charge | The cycle’s max demand (kW) × Demand rate |
| Water, gas, steam | Amount used × that commodity’s flat rate |
On-peak is Monday to Friday, 09:00–22:00 in the site’s timezone. All other hours, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are off-peak, following the PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) TOU schedule. Public holidays are set under Administration → Public holidays. Max demand is the highest 15-minute average in the billing cycle.
Choose the year and the location
Section titled “Choose the year and the location”- Use the arrows or the year list at the top right of Year in review to pick a year.
- Opened from a location’s dashboard, the page shows that location, for example “Billing history — Cooling Water”. Opened from the menu, it shows the whole site.
- Cycles start on the Billing cycle start day in the site settings. If it is blank, calendar months are used.
What you see on the page
Section titled “What you see on the page”| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Year in review | The total for the year and how many cycles have data, for example “7 of 12 cycles have data”, with three rings: By commodity, Energy vs demand and By end-use. |
| Insights | Short sentences on where to save: how much moving on-peak energy to off-peak would have saved, the demand charge your peak set, how many hours power factor was below the threshold (PEA penalty exposure), and what your always-on base load costs per year. |
| Bill by cycle (elec) | Bars of the electricity bill per cycle. Switch between Energy vs demand and By area. The current cycle is marked Live. |
| Total cost by cycle | Bars of the cost of every commodity per cycle, with the demand charge inside electricity. |
| Cycle table | Columns Cycle, Elec kWh, Peak share (elec), Est. bill, Max demand (elec) and vs prev. A cycle that has not ended is marked in progress. |
In By area, Unsubmetered is energy the total meter measured that no sub-meter accounts for. The demand charge is shown as one electricity amount, not split by area.
